Counselling

Psychotherapy rooted in a humanistic, person-centred approach, emphasizing empathy, unconditional positive regard, and collaboration. Counselling offers a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel heard, valued, and empowered to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Evidence-based techniques from other therapeutic approaches are integrated to support your unique needs.

Hi, my name is Jasmine (she/her), and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and a Registered Nurse (RN) based in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia. I’m passionate about supporting individuals through life’s challenges with compassion, insight, and resilience. My journey in mental health began as a nurse, and over the years, I’ve deepened my approach to focus on a more holistic healing through counselling.

My Background & Experiences:

For nearly a decade, I have worked in diverse healthcare settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, outreach programs, and community services, supporting individuals with a wide range of mental health concerns. My clinical experience includes working with mood and anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), personality disorders, trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), psychosocial stressors, low self-esteem, body image concerns, relationship and family conflicts, substance use, addiction, and grief.

My transition to counselling was driven by a desire to provide deeper, more holistic support—helping clients not only manage symptoms but also explore and address the emotional and psychological factors underlying their struggles. Counselling allows me to work with individuals on a deeper, more meaningful level, fostering resilience, self-discovery, and lasting transformation.

My Credentials:

-Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology – Yorkville University (YU)

-Bachelor of Science in Nursing – British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT)

-Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology – University of British Columbia (UBC)

-Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #25123) – BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC)

-Registered Nurse – British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)

My Approach to Therapy:

In my therapeutic practice, I prioritize a humanistic and person-centered approach, creating an open and collaborative space where you feel truly heard, seen, and accepted. Through deep reflection and exploration of thoughts, emotions, and experiences, we work together to cultivate self-awareness, strengthen self-esteem, and foster meaningful personal growth.

While person-centered therapy is the foundation of my approach, I also integrate elements of other evidence-based modalities—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI)—to meet your unique needs. My counselling practice is grounded in inclusivity, strength-based support, trauma-informed care, and cultural responsiveness.

Cultural Identity & Multicultural Awareness:

As a Chinese-Canadian therapist, I have a deep understanding of multicultural issues and the complexities of identity, belonging, and cultural adaptation. My personal and professional experiences provide insight into the unique challenges faced by first-generation immigrants and their families, including intergenerational differences, acculturation stress, and the pressures of balancing heritage and host cultures. I strive to provide a culturally responsive and inclusive space for clients of all backgrounds, recognizing how cultural identity shapes mental health and relationships.

My Areas of Focus:

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of supporting adults facing a variety of mental health challenges. Because of my personal journey and professional interests, I am especially passionate about working with:

-Depression & anxiety

-Low self-esteem & self-worth

-Body image concerns (e.g., body dysmorphia)

-Life transitions

-Family, friendship & relationship conflicts

-School & work-related stress

-Professional burnout & compassion fatigue (especially in healthcare professionals)

-Cultural identity & acculturation stress

-Discrimination & microaggressions (racial, cultural, gender-based, LGBTQ2S+)
